Live Aquatic Sports Event Monitoring
WAILS brings live aquatic sports event monitoring, a perspective that does not exist from poolside. During swimming, diving, water polo, and artistic swimming competitions, the signal is transmitted in real time, with no recordings to retrieve at the end of the day and no post-production. What happens below the surface becomes part of the event while the event is underway, available simultaneously to the production team, the audience present at the facility, and those following remotely.
Underwater footage in event production
The video feed from the cameras integrates into the event production like any other source. The signal can be sent to the video mixer alongside surface footage, allowing alternation between aerial and underwater shots during the same action. With multiple cameras positioned along the pool, it is possible to follow the athlete by changing the shooting angle according to lane or race phase, building a much richer live broadcast without adding operators in the water.
Swimming and diving: live coverage of what cannot be seen
Starts, turns, the underwater phase after the starting dive, and divers’ entry into the water last only a few seconds and remain invisible to those watching from the stands. Transmitted live, those same phases become the most spectacular moment of the competition: the trail of bubbles, the push against the wall, the clean entry into the water. It is content that changes the way the competition is presented to the audience and commented on during the broadcast.
Water polo: live coverage below the waterline
In water polo, much of the play takes place below the surface, where traditional footage does not reach. Live underwater coverage shows challenges, leg movements, and contact situations as they occur, giving the audience and broadcast commentary a complete reading of the action. The same footage remains available for immediate review of disputed episodes, without interrupting the flow of the transmission.
Video screens, online streaming, and digital channels
The signal can be delivered to the facility’s video screens, integrated into television production, or distributed via streaming on the digital channels of clubs, federations, and organizers. Those not present follow the event from our platform or the event player, with the same underwater shot seen by spectators in the stands. For organizers, it is distinctive content that can also be leveraged for visibility for event sponsors.
Event setup and facility integration
Installation is modular and non-invasive: cameras are mounted on walls or dedicated supports and connected to the facility network, in permanent configuration for pools that regularly host competitions or in temporary setup for individual events. Number of units, positioning, and optics are defined based on the pool, discipline, and production requirements. Contact us to design coverage for your event together.
