Millionaire Covers WAILS

WAILS in Millionaire: in the November/December 2026 issue, Elisa Marasco signs the feature «Il nuovo mondo è sott’acqua» (The new world is underwater), about the Blue Economy and the technologies turning the sea into a network to be understood, connected and protected. The chapter «The WAILS case» tells how WAILS, the project dedicated to the underwater world, was born from TimelapseLab, the Mantua company that has been monitoring construction sites and environments remotely for years.
Cameras, environmental sensors and hydrophones work together with artificial intelligence: the first application detects cetaceans near work vessels and alerts the crew in case of a possible collision; in the future the same system could monitor seabeds, marine protected areas, construction sites, fish farms and submerged infrastructure. In the interview, co-founder Federico Franceschetti explains how his passion for diving and his experience at TimelapseLab came together: «if this approach works on a construction site, why not apply it to a seabed?»
